Or should I do fresh install?

If I can image it over what free image software should I use?

I think it's kind of a pain to re-install everythingbut it's still worth it for me to do a clean install. Everything just seems so much faster after one. I vote for that. If I'm not mistaken, I think WD has a clone utility on their site if you decide to do that.

Edit for link: http://support.wdc.com/product/downl...19&wdc_lang=en

You should be able to use that for free as long as you have at least one WD drive which you do. I have used acronis before. Worked well for me.

Yeah, you should be able to clone your current drive over to it. I've used EaseUS Todo Backup Free.

Yes you can. I edited my above post with a link to Acronis. I have used that before and cloned the drive I was using.

Yeah, WD has software for it.
http://support.wdc.com/product/downl...l.asp?swid=119
Although, you can use whatever imaging software you prefer.

I used this software. Worked fine..

Why does windows give this drive a 5.9 and is it normal for this drive to be so loud? Also, how much of a performace hit am I taking for being on SATA 3gb?

I have heard these drive are a little loud because of the 10,000 RPM. You shouldn't notice much if any performance hit on SATA 3gb with a mechanical drive.

If you decide to image your drive use what sLowEnd linked you to, it works great. However, personally i would fresh install and have everything snappy and crisp. Yea, a pain but worth it in the long run.

I think the only way the Windows Experience Index will give you more then 5.9 is to run an SSD. I have a pretty decent Raid0 setup and also only get 5.9.

Also, yeah they are a little louder then normal HDD's.
