I have been running FurMark and the volt stays at 1.000v - straight line in the hardware monitor tool in afterburner. Should it be undervolting when under stress? Maybe try different FW drivers - also they are not supported for RivaTuner, so it doesn't show up in the gadget bar..hmm
It could be either PSU or GPU or both, but in this case you're right he did say he thinks it's coming from the PSU, I missed that.

Yea i see..

Could this have anything to do with the graphic card being connected with 4x molex connectors instead of straight from the psu...?

Only have one 6pin modular connector for the gpu which i'm not using. Instead 2x molex in two different rails.

I don't really know enough to say for sure but I would imagine that it wouldn't be affected by running adapters instead of straight from the PSU. Some PSUs will just have coil whine, some PSUs are more prone to it than others as well, I've never heard of that brand of PSU so it might not be of the best quality.

You might be on to something here! I found this on youtube:

Here one guy suggests disabling C1E in Advanced CPU settings in BIOS

Here is another similar whiny sound and someone is blaming the vsync

I'll see if I find C1E in my BIOS..

I wouldn't go mussing about with BIOS settings on account of a bad PSU, seems you're more likely to do harm than good. The guy mentioning vsync his specific coil whine must've originated with his GPU if that did him any good, because the whine in GPUs is also related to work load/ the amount of frames rendered. This is especially evident when like in menus of games you get up to the thousands of frames per second, the GPU will go really high pitched high then if it's prone to whine.

I did check in BIOS and C1E was disabled before, so I left it like that. When I played around with vsync in unigine heaven demo I noticed no difference with the whiny sound..

it looks like I'll be buying me a new PSU then, which one would you recommend:

Coil whine sucks. :-(

It might be that card that does it to the psu too. You'll find out soon tho!! Hope it works out!
