Best Overclocking 990FX Board? - Page 3

mind if I butt in on your thread ...

also wondering what mb to get for the dozer ... Im fine tuning it to 3 boards:

CHV - most people here recommend it, was used to oc the bd, have seen some negative reviews (forums etc, newegg (ya I know))

Asrock fatality - also some good reviews, havnt seen much negative about it - but then again its not as popular as the CHV.

Asrock extreme3 - new board just released; appears to have everything I need and not much more. So basically save a bit of money. The color scheme looks sweet also. Just a bit concerened that I wont see a review anytime soon and if it will oc as well. The NB doesnt appear to have a heatpipe attacked to it.

Stay away from the gigabyte boards for now. Their Vdroop is ridiculous.

i'd say chV or asrock fatality..although..i have the sabertooth(compusa was out of the ch5 when i went) and umm..it ran 1.8v through my 2 yr old 965 black without a hitch
also the 990fx extreme4 looks good..p.s. i sold my sandy bridge chip yesterday..lol

Thumbs up for Sabertooth 990FX. But still, your overclock relies mostly on your chip, not on your motherboard (if you choose a suited motherboard, of course).

Another thumbs up on the Sabertooth, if you are looking for the 180.00 range board. The AsRock Fatality is looking pretty promising with it's excessive vrm, but I have not really heard much buzz about insane oc's on it. But if you want the best, CHV, just be ready to RMA it if anything at all acts buggy.

The Crosshair V or the soon to be released Biostar TA990FXE are your best choices for BD overclocking boards.

It's a great question.....but you do know this thread is like 1.5yrs old right? Do some reading up on the first few pages and you'll find a good board that will meet your needs. The little bit that have read in the AMD forums suggest that the Crosshair formula , Sabertooth ( would be my pick ) and a few other have some good reviews.
