MAN. I miss mechwarrior with a passion. Even grew up on the cartoon.
Do you remember the toys??? They were epic. My friend had a couple of the mechs.

Mechwarrior is a pretty sweet series, MW4 compilation is an amazing pack.

I am a huge fan of the Mechwarrior/Battletech series of games. I started playing the computer games back with Crescent Hawk's Inception and went right on through the AOL online Battletech sim as well as the entire Mechwarrior series. I really miss playing Mechwarrior. Would love to see an MMO in the Battletech universe, but it would be tough to do it right.

I really enjoyed mech commander but it was such a short series.

I remember playing in MW3 and MW4 netbattletech leagues . I loved the universe too, must've read like 20+ books, fell in love with the lore for sure xD. Felt like such a nerd lol.

Can't wait for MW5 though, ever since they released the teaser back in like 2009 (I just rewatched it last night too 0,0). Granted, the time period its set in isn't the coolest (imo, they should make a game based on Victor retaking the throne).

Ooooh, an MMO would be awesome, if done right. I'd love to see an MMO where if you die, you lose the mech you were in. High stakes, but high rewards too. The only thing you level is yourself - your own skills and abilities - which might decrease mech startup time or delay between shots. Maybe get sponsorships if you're in to the arena-battling scene.

So you could go solo/mercenary, and lose whatever you have if you die, or join one of the factions (or whatever they're called) and have (somewhat crappy) mechs provided to you by said faction. As you level up, they entrust you with larger mechs, provided you don't die in them too often. But, you hardly make any money working for a faction compared to working as a merc. Maybe a faction nets you 1,000 credits for a fight, whereas a risky merc mission might net you 100,000, if successful.

I'd still love to see an MMO with a proper military rank structure. Not necessarily matching up with what we have today, but some sort of structure where the top officers and commanders are handing out missions to be done by other players. And those top officers/commanders are elected by the players as well, so they can be kicked out of office if they do a poor job of leading.

But picture it in the mech world... a commander could view a whole region, and see maybe a weak front in the enemy's line, so he issues 5 missions of "kill 3 mechs in this area". Then, any of the players can accept one of those 5 missions, and go on to carry it out. A sudden surge of friendly mechs in that area causes it to be dominated, and the enemy line is broken. The commander could issue further missions to flank the enemy at other locations, or destroy a supply depot/repair facility, or even reconnaissance to gather more intel on where the enemy is actually at.

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Trick is finding a studio that would take up the task, and the big question of how much would said MMO take to produce?
