That is more than gross overkill, its a waste of money.

Even with a full system overclock and SLI 570s OP isnt going to even need a full 750w unit.
850w PSUs will last him through all of that, and he would still have more power, with two 570s running in SLI, he may not need more than 750, but he is pushing it close.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather spend a little money for some more reassurance that I'm getting a good product that'll last me as long as I need it to.

Our test system is based on a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 system. This setup is overclocked to 3.75 GHz. Next to that we have energy saving functions disabled for this motherboard and processor (to ensure consistent benchmark results). On average we are using roughly 50 to 100 Watts more than a standard PC due to higher CPU clock settings, water-cooling, additional cold cathode lights etc.

Mind you that the system wattage is measured from the wall socket and is for the entire PC.
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 578W

This is from the wall, take into account PSU efficiency, say 85% and that would be 491w. that would mean you have more than 200w to play around with

Source

EDIT

Typically furmark add's an axtra 50/100w on load from the wall, but firmark is unrealistic and shouldn't even be used lol.

He isnt close to the limit at all.
Under load the entire system would struggle to need more than 650watts.
And 650 is a VERY generous number.

Dude, he will be fine with a 750 watt, even a 650 watt without overclocking in sli.

Edit: I have a feeling this is going to be another 10 page thread...

Yup. Same feeling here.

Im really beginning to feel for Phaedrus recently with watching all of the terrible PSU recommendations...

That is a good 750W unit.
And that PSU calc is decent.
Learning how to calculate it yourself is far more accurate though as even that calc grossly overestimates what you need.

Like I said the 650 is not a bad choice however, it's a quality unit but like I mentioned in my first post it's a little in the middle and that's why I recommended going for a smaller wattage PSU that'll most likely be cheaper aswell and If you decided to go for SLI then a 750w would be a wiser choice.

Anyways upto you. Enjoy your new purchase.
