CPU Cooler: Recommendations based off sig rig

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a new CPU cooler for my 2600k, doesn't have to be too fancy, but I also don't want just a hunk of aluminum.

I just built my sig rig and was going to use my A70 push/pull for my i7 but it really leaves me no room whatsoever and to be honest was not thoroughly impressed by it's cooling capacity for it's footprint.

I have a rosewill blackhawk mid tower which I have fallen in love with, I have 2x nzxt 140mm fans up top for exhaust, one 120mm scythe rear exhaust, two scythe 120mm front intakes and 1 scythe 120mm on the bottom for intake, just in front of the psu, which is turned to intake from the bottom as well.

I'm looking for a decent cooler preferably just a one fan push setup to either point up or rear, doesn't matter. Like I said, it doesn't have to be the beat performing, just something that will fit and still allow my fat fingers to do work. Lol

Thanks ahead of time guys!

Hyper 212+ Seems like a lot of people use them, must be solid. What fan would you use in conjunction? I think I do have a spair Scythe slipstream laying, think that would be adequate?

TweakTown shows the A70 as 10.1C cooler than the 212.

The A70 is 120mm fans IIRC. You're not going to see a terribly large variation in size since most things use a 120mm now. You could always look at a Zalman CNPS11X, but it won't be much smaller.

ETA: Slipstreams work rather well as HSF fans. The CM fans are good though. Just experiment.

On Newegg, the 212+ is a mere two dollars cheaper than the A70 - I suppose you should get the A70 then.

I don't really trust that graph what cpu is that? It idles at 56c on the hyper. Mine at 4.1 ghz is at 40c under moderate load about 35c idle.

212+ or 212 EVO if you don't plan on doing some crazy overclock. In this case 212+ or 212 EVO can cool your i7 2600K @ 4.2GHz reasonably well.

Corsair A70 is also a fine choice, but only if you can get it really cheap (Corsair's products are usually overpriced). Keep in mind A70 is also larger than Hyper 212.

Best air coolers would be DH14 or Silver Arrow.

That's a simulated full load. Here's their testing method.

Also, people need to read the OP. He already has an A70. He's looking for something smaller with similar temps. Saying the A70 is expensive is pointless.

Then CM Hyper 212+/EVO would be OP choice then. Unless OP OC into 4.5GHz+, Hyper 212 should cool it nice and cool.
