techreport.com and anandtech.com have great reviews on cases, browse around on newegg to see what you want and I'll help you decide.

I'm going to go with a fractal design case most likely when I build my new rig.
I want to go mATX ( with the Fractal Design Arc Mini), but that depends on BD performance and the boards the MB manufacturers release after launch. If BD is worth it, i'll stick with AMD and the MBs are there, if not I'm going with a 2500k and a maximus IV gene-z for the form factor.
thanks! if you look at the wishlist, you'll see that I chose a case that should hopefully do (yn)

K. looking around now. This will be FUN! heheheh.

This is round about what I would do if I had to buy now in your budget. This is assuming the total cost will goto the PC, components will be used until upgrade is possible in the futurewishlist. Money can be futher saved in the case and PS options, allowing for a better GPU, but this is ignored in this build.

This build is my recommendation for your situation. I am making the assumption that you have a keyboard and mouse already. If you do, keep those until you can spend more money on input devices (around 200$) for both, your hands will appreciate it. A nice power supply is a MUST, like the one I put on this list. It will sli/cf 6950's or the equivalent from nVidia. The MB will be able to handle BD, as AMD says "AM3+ only" and you get some extra features from it. Seperated the headset into decent headphones and boom mic, I have these cans and they are wonderful for the price. Great for gaming and music.

This is just a quick one, I'm sure you could save some money with a different, but same sized monitor. Monitors needs lots of research though . If your going to wait for BD, the longer you wait the cheaper most of these components will get.

edit: will be updated as I build the wishlists

I've never posted wishlists before; I made them public under "my wishlists" and they have the shared check, where do I find the public link?"

yeah it works perfect! all you have to do is go the the public wishlists that EVERYONE sees, then search for yours and copy the link for future reference

the wishlists are good ! I kind of want a 6.0gb/s hard drive. I'm still waiting on the prices for the bulldozer, then I'll see if I should get the i5, phenom II 1100T, or a bulldozer. I'll definatly consider some elements from your wishlists, though !

thank you

Your welcome. Two things you must do when you get a new rig:
  • get a decent PSU like the seasonic on either wishlist; don't need "high" wattage cheapers burning out your 'spensive parts. There is some great articles on PSUs by phaeudrus on OCN that you might want to read.
  • Get an SSD for the OS, like the one I put on. Samsung has a great reputation in SSDs, and their new 870 drives (not on the wishlist) user their own controller, their basically bulletproof. I chose the 128gb over the 64gb because it was a 50* difference in price .

Your biggest percieved different in speed will be in the SSD, so even a 64gb for the OS and essential games/apps. Having CS5 on your SSD, you will see a BIG difference in snappiness and overall performance . SATA 3 (6.0 gbps) on a mechanical HDD wont see a dramatic increase on speed, but you will on the SSD .

Good luck and good hunting

Dear OP,
Sorry about all the crap on this thread about procs. Has nobody bothered to check your PSU? It's a great price for 700W but I don't trust the vendor. A poor quality PSU can blow up an intel or AMD build. With your current wishlist, I'd move down to 600-650Watts and buy better quality. Corsair has NEVER failed on me. - Just a suggestion that may save you some$$ in the end.
