Graphic Cards Choice Dilemma

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I want to thank everyone in advance for the suggestions. I have been debating with myself for the past few days...... I need opinions lol. The story goes like this.... I got lucky and bought a 6870 for months ago for 120 and I found a great deal on another deal for 6870 for 120 again. I can't decide if I should go ahead and buy the second 6870 or sell the one I got and just buy a 6950, 6970, or GTX570. Thanks again!

I can't vouch for any of the ATI cards, but I have three GTX 570's. I've tested the cards independently and in SLI. I haven't ran them in tri-sli yet... but I was impressed with the performance both alone and in SLI.

Not sure how two 6870s would compare to a single 570, but it's worth doing a little research to find out.

6870's perform about 10% slower than a 5870, which is similar to a GTX 470. If you're not facing Vram issues, CF would probably be a good choice since it is the most cost-effective out of the options. If you game at 1080p I would go for it and then do a serious upgrade when the next gen comes out.

I've only tested them in my old rig, which only has room for normal SLI. All three of them will be going in my new rig, which is still being built. I'm pretty excited to run them all together though.

Also, OP, I don't know much about your PSU (the thermaltake 550 in your sig) but make sure your power supply can handle whatever card you end up going with. Wattage and amperage are both a factor.

I say go 6870 crossfire, especially for the price you're getting. As iconofgrace mentioned, check your PSU, thermaltake make crap PSUs. Might not be able to handle x-fire
