Best 1155 Mobo $250 Max

Thread Starter
I am looking for a mobo for my build, I will be running i5-2500k, overclocking to at least 4.5ghz. GPU will be MSI Twin Frozr III PE.

P67 or Z68.

Requirements are:

3 PCI-e slots, as I may SLI in future, and need the bottom slot to run my sound card.

Prefer to have a PLX chip, so I don't lose connectivity.

USB 3.0 header onboard, as well as USB 3.0 ports in the back.

Would prefer Auto-Overclocker, i.e. Asus TPU, but if not would be ok.

Rest of my system is all blue, so no red or any other color mobos. Just blue and black.

If you don't need the features of the Z68 chipset then this board is probably the best bang for buck board without sacrificing performance: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131703

You can also check out this Mobo comparison list here: http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...omparison.html which has some good info on some advice on which motherboard to get.

Asus P8P67 WS Revolution.

HERE

Is the PLX Chip a must? I'm not sure what the big deal is about it.

If u dont need plx u should be ok. Running sound card in pcie slot is x1. You have to run it at x4 to lose connectivity.

I would like to have the PLX chip, but its not absolutely required. I will be using pcie x1, the pcie x4 as x1 for sound card, usb 3.0 external so it would be better.

I see there are a lot of bad reviews recently on the p8p67 deluxe on newegg. Are there problems with this board?
you don't really need the PLX. its just used to beter handle lane allotment by the PCH, as teh PCH has 8 lanes of PCI-E 1x, and the last slot needs 4x direct from PCH, ussually PCH has no PCI-E switches like the PCi-E lanes from the CPU, sot eh PLX switches everything for the PCH when you need to move around lanes and disconnect from devices not in use, like you don't use USB 3.0, it will add another lane to the last 4x only slot.
