~$300 to spend on a New Card

Thread Starter
I'm not a huge gamer, but I do like to play sometimes and I'd like to be able to have good performance on a 2540 x 1440.

I currently have a Giga 560ti SOC but it's getting returned due to vibration of the plastic around the fans. I also had a horendous experience with gb tech support and I'd rather not deal with that company anymore.

Card must fit in a Sugo sg05 so can be maybe 10" (assuming connectors don't add to this figure) but that's pushing it. 9" or 9.5" would be better.

Any suggestions?

2500k, ssd, 8gb ram

You could probably find a used 6970 in the marketplace for that much honestly.

A GTX 570 is 9 inches, and seeing that the power connectors are on the side, I don't think that should be an issue. If you can wait for MIR you can get a MSI 570 from newegg for under $300, or if you are already planning on buying Batman Arkham you can get an EVGA with the game for free for $319 - the vram will help at 2560 x 1440.

If you're really set on getting a 560ti, i'd get the MSI Hawk edition (higher clocks, and great cooler)

This will rule out all AMD Radeon 6950's I think as they will all be too long ... I think my TOXIC @ 10.75 inches /or 270mm (L) was about the shortest, REF 6950 cards are 275mm x 110mm x 38mm. And I think most all of the nVidia GTX-570 cards are 10.5" or longer so these get ruled out too. EDIT: I guess there is one eVGA 570 at 9" and in your $300 Budget.

SO ... pretty much you're going to need to continue to look at the nVidia GTX-560ti series.

The MSI 560ti's are @ 9.37" x 4.37" x 1.46" ... and the eVGA 560tiis 9.0" Long.

So at 1440, a 2gb 560 ti takes priority over a 570 w/ less memory?

Since your posting in the Nvidia section....

MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB $269.99 after MIR $249.99 w/$7.87 shipping = $257.86 + Free Batman Arkum City game right now which is $50 value. ($207.86)

If it's out of stock another great choice would be $20 higher.

EVGA 02G-P3-1568-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB $279.99 afer MIR $269.99 w/$7.56 shipping = $277.55 + Free Batman Arkum City game right now which is $50 value. (227.55)

EVGA has a great warranty and stands behind their cards 100% with great tech support and forum support.

3D Vision is an open door with these cards for 3D gaming and watching 3D blu-ray movies if you so choose to get a 120Hz monitor.

You can over clock the heck out of the Ti....the MSI TFII cooling will take you higher. This solution in SLI mode is powerful performance. You can SLI a second when pricing goes down around February after the newer gen cards come out and bring down current gen cards pricing.
