Thinking of water cooling but have questions

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about water-cooling my SigRig, but I don't completely understand how this will help me achieve a higher OC? If I watercool and bring my temps down on my CPU will I be able to lower the voltage and still get the same OC I have now? If there is somewhere on the forum this is explained, can someone point me to it as I'm unable to find anything that adequately explains how water-cooling helps achieve better OCs? Also, I want to have two video cards in the loop, is there a waterblock I can get for my current GPU (I'm wanting to add another of the same to my system)? Thanks for the help!

Watercooling helps as it lowers the temperature of your CPU. Having a lower temperature will let you overclock it further while still being in a safe temperature level.

Does this mean I can puts the VCore higher than I can on air? I only ask because my temps aren't bad (low 60sC) but I can't get above 4.7 stable without pushing my VCore past 1.5v. Will I be safer pushing my VCore past 1.5v if I'm WCed?

Start here Link and here Link. You will have to do some reading but it will get you down on the basic's.

They are the Sticky's in the Water Cooling Section. P.S. it's alot of fun just make sure you leak test and take your time don't rush it.

IMO 4.7 GHZ is already great for an i5-2500k. So the only point of WCing now is to benchmark or just lower the temperatures of your CPU

Sorry but are you low 60s full load?
IBT or p95?
Or is that gaming and eversay use temps?

The only thing this system gets used for is folding (and a little web browsing) and my temps are at 61-64C depending on the core under load (folding 24/7).

Like what's already been said, watercooling allows you to keep your CPU at lower temps for longer. It may make you able to use lower vcore at your current OC, but that's not guaranteed. The main benefit is being able to acheive higher overclocks due to the fact that watercooling can remove more heat from the cpu than air-cooling can.
