Imo as long as there is a clock to clock gain over Phenom II then im happy.
Give me a break, when 6 and 8 cores can barely keep up with 4 something is wrong here.

Progress is not defined by a four year old project (time flies, doesn't it?) that competes with products that intel released 3 years ago. Seriously, that is pathetic.

Please no more of the core comparisons of two different architecture. That is not an accurate comparison. Compare price and performance to see the real picture. Saying it has 6 cores and isnt as good as the other guys 4 is just naive.

I would agree that price-vs-performance is a good indicator for value or bang for your buck, but that's it. If you are going to compare the two, what else can you use besides putting the two architectures head-to-head? cores aside.

It is the real picture lol. It will also mean that for everyday tasks BD will be slower. Having more core is nice, but when not many programs can make use of that many cores, there is no point in having them.

And even if they do, intel's 6 core and imminent 8 core offerings may be the better choice.

And this debate begins.

You do realize that if AMD's "cores" were faster, they would also be more expensive.

We don't have the data to back it up yet, but if it takes 8 AMD cores to beat 4 Intel cores, you truly don't find anything wrong with that picture?

Performance is the only thing that matters at this point. Things such as price per performance, performance per watt, is all trivial.

Funny how people went from saying bulldozer will dominate the market from 2 years ago and forwarding to today's hidden realization that may very well under perform when compared to Intel's offering - resorting to price per performance.

AMD trying to keep up with last generation chips. Funny.

Well not all last gens are bad, Looks at 990X vs 2600K, The still come very close, With the 990X beating the 2600K in a few things, Like multi-threaded applications. So i see this as progress for AMD.

But we will just have to see on Oct 12th, Hopefully the rumors are true and it is coming out in the next 6 days.

EDIT: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/142?vs=287 - So SB is about 10% faster roughly, I think BD can be on par if not little bit faster than SB.
