gtx 580 gtx - hydro copper 2 vs classified

Thread Starter
With my new build I'm looking at a watercooled 580GTX. I have had great experience with EVGA so I am looking at either the hydro cooper 2 or classified. On paper these cards are identical and I cant find any other information on them. Does anyone know off hand what the differences are? they go for the same price point.

hydro copper a watercooled GPU, while the classified is air cooled

Since you're looking at watercooled, then Hydro Copper 2 or Custom.
It's a computer.

There's a water cooled classy. The classifieds altogether are meant to be overclocked.

If you're going for silence without spending so much, the hydro coppers would be better.

My opinion: go for the classy. Get the hydro copper classy if you have the money.

Best of luck

I found the fermi hydro and classified hydro on ncix for the same price, so I will be getting the classified for sure. Now i'm looking into whether or not the 1.5gb will be enough for a 27" monitor @ 1080p.
the hydro 580 classy out is 3gb
but even the 1.5 would handle 1080p

Why would you spend more money on a factory overclock you can do yourself at home for free? I'd get the regular hydro copper.

The Classified is supposed to have beefier components to better handle more extreme overclocks (and smooth out problems associated with higher volts and temps). I have the normal GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 and with 1.15v I was able to get it up to 975 Core. I just unlocked more voltage with a BIOS mod this morning and so far I'm up to 1020MHz with just a single bump in voltage up to 1.163v. I'm still having no problems so It remains to be seen how high this one will go. Temps max out at 45C with OCCT even with OCP disabled through GPU-Z.
