6870 Won't Post [Video] [Help]

Thread Starter
Hey, I just bought a xfx 6870 and the fans are working but there is no display. My old graphics card works fine, notably that requires hardly any power though.

Everything is plugged in correctly. Could it be the power supply, or is the graphics card faulty. I have no other pc to check it in.

I took a video of it.

http://youtu.be/yb00sQzcjaI

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry can't see the video, on a mobile device. There is no details provided, so this is stabing in the dark at best. Try different output ports from the video card and different display inputs your monitor are capable of.

Yeah tried that. There's also beeping. I think I may have to send it back. Might try a new psu first.

Also, it may be useful to know, I only have 1 6 pin power thing, so I got a 2 x molex to 1 x 6 pin. But it only has 5 pins?

The gpu powers on though. But then again it powers on with only 1 in anyway.

Where the beeps sound come from? The card or motherboard speaker? If 3 continuos long beeps, the card might have problem or not properly seated in the PCIe slot.

I think the card will need all the pins powered for it to work though.

hct, did you completely uninstalled the drivers of your old GPU? check out the installation procedure in the manual that came with your 6870.

pls. go to User CP and fill out your system info. it will help. the minimum PSU requirement for 6870 is 500W with 2 75W 6pin.

The beeps are from the mobo. There']s one medium long beep and then 8 or 9 fast beeps then a big gap and one small beep. They're quite high pitch.

I haven't uninstalled the drivers but surely it should still post? Will try though.

Will also fill in system info.

Thanks for the help guys, this is really frustrating.

I don't think it is related to driver at this point as the card can't even make it to POST.

Last try, put the card in other PCIe slots. If it doesn't work, test the card in other system (friend's place).
