help on RAM setup

Thread Starter
I have read a few posts on the same subject, (clawbog's post showed me you guys know all the answers), but all are a bit different, and i just would like my own post with questions and answers.

What do you guys need to know from me so you can help me to maximize my RAM setup?

i could already post some pictures from cpu-z like memory/spd and stuff, but i have no idea what exactly it is you need.

i'll be checking in regularly to give you all you need.

jsportive.

PS: the spd says 6-8-9-7 and on the sticker of the ram it says 7-8-7-20 1,65V
i know something there is not really right.
[EDIT: reading the ram timings for dummies i now know i read it wrong tongue.gif so ignore the PS]

BTW: i have read that games that keep crashing are sometimes related to this issue.
So if any help includes this, i would be very thankfull because i can't play all my games anymore. frown.gif
BTW2: my Vcore dips to a 0.02 V and pcprobe yells at me with an alarm.

i may be paranoid, but 71 views and no replies?

just activate XMP profile or set timings manually with the correct voltage...

okay, that is an answer i can't use.
what is XMP? and exactly how do you think i know anything about timings and voltage.
that is why i came here, to get some help.
not advice.

where to start? how to change? what to do if i blow up my pc? ( i don't have any money to spend on something new in a day)
this is what i have to do with.

this is what i have to do with.

if your PC blows up you should RUN to the nearest fire extinguisher disreguarding all personal safety and salvage what you can tongue.gif

Seriously though..........XMP is a setting, but i dont reccomend it since manual is better. Since you are on an AMD system your computer will respond better to a lower latency versus a higher clock rate.

So since the XMP profil says 6-7-8-9 (or whatever it was) i would set it to that since THAT is the correct one, then boot into winders and stress test it with a program called Prime95 use blend testing, then from there set your voltage (RAM) to a comfortable setting, such as 1.75 (if its stock is 1.65) or 1.65 (if stock is 1.5) and lower your latency to 6-6-6 and keep the clock rate the same. Run P95 again and if it works great, now you can up the clock rate, but only AFTER you have reached low latency, since latency > MHZ on AMD. Basically you want the lowest latency you can get without compromising TOO much mhz, im not saying mhz arent important, but more important is the low latency.
