Gaming PC on a $900 budget?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to build or buy a PC on a $900 budget that could run BattleField 3 at 50+ FPS. Possible or no?

Ideally I would like a good i7 processor with dual GPU's on an SLI setup.

Do you have a case, psu and win 7 to go along with it?

That's a pretty large budget, you would definitely meet your goal. I would go with an i5 instead of i7, it makes no difference in gaming except it saves you money for other components.

Go with HD 6950s in CFX for ~$540. You would be able to play BF3 on ultra. Probably would cost $1000 for such a system sans OS.

@ Snieves I'm not sure if my Antec 300 case would be sufficient. But yes I have Windows 7 already and I would probably need a better PSU.

@ MinitroN Good to hear, interesting an i5 would be sufficient for gaming. Thanks for the recommendation on the HD 6950's.

Depending on where you live you can get:

i5 2500K+Mobo Combo deals for under $350;
RAM for $50~75 depending on needs/speeds/amount
NZXT Case or HAF912 $60
CM 212+ $20
HDD's depending on needs/size for $50-100
6850CF $250
550W PSU (Corsair, Antec, something on sale) $50~60

That's roughly within your budget.

( edit )

I should note you'd have to look around but these are prices when items are on sale and usually include free shipping.

i5 2500k is more then enough for bf3, get a i5 and spend the 100$ on a gpu or something, get a 6950. buy 8GB ram ddr3 1600, asus p8p67 pro is a good mobo.

i have 6950 2gb and a i5 2500k and i play bf3 ultra settings, 1080p, 2x aa,
minimum fps is 40, average is 50-60 fps
