Bulldozer single core cinebench 10 score = 4074

A phenom II X4 970 @ 3.5GHZ scores 4059 at single core in cinebench-10... So that means a Phenom core is faster than 1 Bulldozer core knowing that the bulldozer is clocked at 3.6(4.2 for turbo) and the Phenom at 3.5.

strange.

Is the $60ish worth it? well that depends on your use. Me? 2600k more than likely at this point.

Phenom x6's actually aren't that far behind first gen i7's (i7 920 for example). In some games I believe they're about on par.

Just a question, didnt find it in the link. Did they test the 2500k/2600k and 8150 at max overclocks or at stock?

Its really annoying when people say they expected more.. AMD can't just take the lead over intel with one little processor enhancement they need time and right now they are doing good and eventually they'll start to make better and better chips..

Are you seriously referring to a completely new architecture that took AMD half a decade to engineer as "one little processor enhancement"?

Thats what makes no sense, BD has a wide pipeline, can handle more uops per cycle, has a improved prefetcher, better MMC, etc. Those scores shouldn't look like that at all. However, not knowing more about the test parameters etc, what type of supporting hardware, clockspeeds etc. I don't know that i trust that review.
As far as I know, Bulldozer has more stages on the pipeline, lowering IPC but allowing for higher clockspeeds.

I worded it wrong. What I meant, is that they are massively behind in games that are CPU bound. Crysis Warhead isn't particularly CPU bound.

Not really, lots of factors involved like, the game, the rez, is the gpu the bottleneck and not the cpu etc etc
I can see why you would call trolling. i7 is faster of course, but a phenom can be just as good in a lot of cases. You may get 200fps with an i7 and 150 with a phenom, but when the gpu is a bottleneck, which is the case of modern games, they will both be about equal.

Its very workload based. the more optimized and deeper pipelin utilization, the more the scores even up. What intel is good at, is more aggresive resource scheduling and wider cores.

I have seen the x6 and the intel 4c/8t ht cpu's duke it out.

also you can be pretty much assured, anything using x87 Intel owns AMD. so lifes just not always black and white.
Yeah, lots of variables, but i7s are faster. Phenoms can sometimes hold their own.

If this news is true, then that means that bulldozer have lower IPC than Phenom

FX-8150 (3.6 GHz, 4.2Ghz Turbo) scores 4074 in cinebech 10

While 1100T which can turbo to 3.7GHz scores 4083
