AFAIK all of the BD series chips 81/61/4100 are made as 8 core (4 module) chips. Chips with invalid or low performing cores are used to create the models with 6 and 4 cores, i.e. the 6100 and 4100, respectively. Presumably there are enough CPUs culled from 8 core viability to meet orders for 4 and 6 core BDs. If there was a mad rush for 4100s and they needed to make 4100s out of chips with all 8 cores usable to meet orders , THEN you would have a situation where 4100s might be able to fully unlock to 8 cores. This is exactly the same way current AMD proccessors are binned as 4 or 2 (and 6/3)core units using the same die. My 555 is a 955 with a flaw in 1 core. It was programmed to operate using 2 good cores- but I can open up the other 2- one of them having errors.

This...AMD said from the start that the 8150 was targeted to be on par with the 2500k and it looks like that hit that mark. So I am pleased

It's slightly faster than the 2500K in heavily multithreaded applications, but much slower in single-threaded performance.

Bulldozer needs twice as many cores and a higher clock speed to slightly beat a 2500K in multithreaded performance. But it's still about 50% slower in single threaded performance.

Cinebench 10 single-threaded score:
FX8150: 4074
Nehalem i7 965: ~4900
2500K/2600K: ~5800

Multi-threaded:
FX8150: 20615
2500k: ~18615

i7 965: ~19600
2600k: ~22615
