if you run amd in a bentmarking competition, you are already starting with a big handicap.

the other side has the benefit of software optimization. amd does not.

this has totally disillusioned me from the overclocking scene. not even minding the fact that fugger, vapor and skinnee are cheaters.

The guy from Lab501 is a very reliable person. He had a 6970 before
it was released and he thinks bulldozer is fail according to the info he gathered.
Everything now is negative about bulldozers perforanace. People are expecting 8150to come close to 2600k and maybe beat it in heavily threaded aps, it is simple as that. But according to this guys info that will not happen. IPC is even lover than Thuban...

still cant believe how we came from glorious FX/Athlon days to here... Life is changing damn fast man... Look now with Steve passing away (RIP) maybe Samsung will dethrone giant apple in a couple of years in cellphone/tablet market .. you never now ...

Who thinks BD is a failure? I sure don't. I just believe most people were setting there sights way too high.

In heavily multithreaded apps ONLY.

In singlethreaded performance BD is terrible compared to SB, or even to the now 3 year old Nehalem.

Everything makes sense now.

The delays to get the clock speeds up due to poor single threaded\\IPC performance.

The low cost, with the top model coming in cheaper than the 2600k.

The signs were all there.

Someone asked if this is a fail, technically I'd say, Yes to that.

We are talking about an "8 core" cpu here that can't beat a 4 core HT 2600k at a lower clockspeed in multi-threaded, and gets absolutely demolished in single-threaded...they're going to have to lower the price on these things unless they just market to ignorant people (or those that only care about heavy multi-threading).

Exactly my thoughts... Perhaps JF can comment to ease down the negativity going around bulldozer...
