For me at least, it's going to depend on the price of the 2600k after Bulldozer comes out. Should the 2600k come down to $250, then I'll probably get one of those. I'm going to start recording some of my clan's Battlefield 3 matches for recruitment videos and so 8 cores/threads are going to be needed. 2500k is obviously not going to work very well at playing the game and recording 1080p video at the same time since 2500k and other 4 core processors are getting pretty high usage at 1080p+ on Beta. So it'll be either be the 2600k or the 8150 for me.
To me, it's going to come down to price. I have an AM3 motherboard that supposedly will support Bulldozer with a BIOS update, so $230 is all I would need to go from my 955 to the 8150. In order for me to "go blue" with the 2600k, I would have to buy a new quality overclocking motherboard (assuming $150) and then the processor itself (perhaps they drop the price to $250). I'm paying over 40% more to go Intel.
So don't label us fanboys because we don't have money to burn like others do. I built my computer late last year in plans for making the switch to Bulldozer pretty easy, SB wasn't even out yet.Edited by modinn - 10/6/11 at 4:25pm
