(PCM) Leaked dutch FX 8150 review! - Page 34

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...3ghz-vs-6.html

great thread that compares i3 550 vs i7-2600k in games with real FPS data. i post this to help bring in some perspective to this mad thread of wild assertions.

excellent question. what do you think is the average IPC of all the crappy software out there? bentmarks can achieve ~4 for very short periods, but for crappy(real world/practical) apps; do you know?

BD pipeline is engineered to not be as fat as intel core precisely because of that.

your answer has been asked many times and is thoroughly answered here.

It's obviously just a bad review. Not everyone goes into detail like Anand and TPU. There are reports that Amd was giving reviewers 24 hours to do reviews and then having them send back the press kits.

well, at least for me i can say my understanding of cpu uarchitecture has progressed ever since i made this inquiry.

hopefully, the past few posts do not represent the average intellect in this forum?
No, it all sunk in dude. Thanks to you I finally realized that my poor 2600k really is a slow dog of a processor and is only thought to be fast because Intel managed to make all benchmarks run badly on AMD machines. I guess when I'm rendering vids and converting audio files much faster than any AMD processor can that is all just an anti-AMD conspiracy as well.

Obviously the 2500K and 2600K suck because they're not made by AMD. Didn't you know? Only AMD makes good processors. Anyone who disagrees is obviously an Intel fanboy.

as it should, 8 threads, properly scheduled, with two threads having dependent data structures, designed for an inclusive cache, should run faster than a true dual core.

it hasnt sunk in yet, im afraid. read it again, breathe in, breathe out.

_software optimization._

the gist of my beef with these bentmarks is that the over nine thouzand 3DMarks score difference are not accurately representative of the 12FPS in-game play differential where min. FPS is 70 for both, on a 60Hz refresh rate monitor.

bentmarks mislead, and promote an inflated price for your preferred processor due to artificially caused demand.

Interesting info! +Rep. Seems software cant even tap these chips but still I want the best chance of IPC. I still don't think BD will be close to 2600K.

If the 4 core does indeed unlock to 8 core we probably have found the best budget cpu BY FAR - I just simply cannot believe AMD would let that happen.
You pretty much got it at 'would any enthusiast who has the knowledge to unlock a processor ever buy the 8 core'

Answer is yes and no.Enthusiasts are the minority by a long way,AMD wont worry that we cheat some performance, and also its not garunteed,so most who need 8 cores will just buy 8 cores, but if you need a 4 core or its all you can afford then you have that chance you may get lucky.
