AMD hasn't been competitive with Intel's midrange and high end for half a decade now, and I fail to see where prices have increased or performance has stagnated.

Core 2 Quad Q6600: $266
Core i5 760: $200
Core i7 920: $284
Core i5 2500K: $200
Core i7 2600K: $300

Each successive generation has delivered higher performance at around the same price. If that's not innovation to you, I don't know what is.
Fanboy fails to understand basic economics or logic.

AMD keeps Intel's prices down because they offer a compelling price/performance ratio.

Intel could not sell $400 2600Ks given AMD's current performance. Remove AMD's price/performance competition from the market and the only thing Intel
needs to worry about profits, not competition. I guarantee if AMD goes out of business and another serious competitor does not rise up, we will see stagnation in the technology and price increases with "new" models that offer marginal at best performance increases.

I'm not "throwing any turds" here, just stating opinions which is the point of any public forum, no? The fact is that certain people have been bragging about BD ages now ("Just wait til BD comes" or "BD is gonna own Intel") yet we can see that BD is not going to be a significant competitor to SB as far as overall performance goes. Does that mean that AMD is crap or that nobody will buy BD? Of course not, but it does mean that most review sites and people who are being honest will still recommend SB processors over everything else just like they have been doing since its release.....

By your own logic which I fully, and completely disagree with on principle alone... We don't need AMD, Intel has fast enough processors, and we surely don't need eight cores since "phenom" was more than enough.

What amazes me is people use broken logic to argue a silly point while using an opposing logic at the same time in an attempt to tie the two together.

Find the broken logic. You won't. But please, continue to be amazed....

We don't need faster per core, we don't need Intel to improve designs "becoming stagnant", we don't need new processors because phenom was "fine".

What do we need? We need more cores? Why? 90% of the market was fine with Phenom. We don't need faster per core either since that same bracket was fine before.. We don't need Intel making new cpus since they're faster than phenom which was already fine, and certainly need not worry about the market getting stagnant since there is no longer a market for improvement as everything is "fine".

I don't really think what hardware vendor my sig rig carries matters.

I always keep hearing that AMD offers great performance per dollar, while Intel is for the high end user who outs a premium on performance. This analogy holds nicely in the auto industry as well think Toyota vs Mercedes. so understandably toyota and other similar brands have a much higher market share over the luxury brands. So why on earth does intel have 81% of the market share if AMD offers better bang for buck?

Seriously, this is almost the longest BD thread yet to be closed, all this nonsense will only get this thread locked, and has been argued over and over again in so many threads before.

Let's keep at least 1 BD thread open for longer than 2 days.
