if you run AMD to do benchmarks, you start with a huge handicap.
i'll say it again, software optimization. relax. think.
well the true meaning of overclocking is taking a cheaper, less powerful chip and overclocking the heck out of it to make it perform like the more expensive chips. people here tend to buy the biggest, baddest most expensive cpu/gpu then brag about there tiny overclocks. Me personally. i would rather buy a cheaper system that can perform like the more expensive ones and be happy.

besides, it looks like intel just uses the settlement contract as toilet paper.

1. ICC compiler still uses inferior code path for AMD despite having the same cpu feature sets.

2. strong-arming OEM's still happens, like i linked to previous post.
While ive always said i dont agree with the way intel does their business its true they make alot of money from their shady deals.

1.25 billion is heck of alot of money coming amd's way, i think most of it should go towards amd's research and development dept

lets ignore how bobcat just wipes the floor with atoms.
or how llano has;

1. better power management than SB

amd llano has better power management/better battery life than sandy bridge:

2. better thermal management than SB
Quote:
The key take away is that Llano’s power management is significantly more advanced than previously indicated and
includes a few novel features, such as taking advantage of indirect thermal dissipation.
http://realworldtech.com/page.cfm?ArticleID=RWT083111130632
"One novel trick is that Llano’s algorithms recognize that idle blocks in the system will act as indirect thermal conduits for active components. Heat will flow from hotter (active) to cooler (idle) regions in the chip and the idle region will still dissipate heat into the heat sink, effectively creating a greater surface area for cooling. The credit-based power management and especially the indirect thermal dissipation are substantially more advanced than we had described in our earlier article on Llano and it is important to acknowledge this oversight."

3. better overall performance than SB

intel hypethreading chokes in heavy workload environments: http://youtu.be/mdPi4GPEI74

sandy bridge image quality is as good as 2005, in 2011: http://techreport.com/articles.x/21099/11

intel will continue to concentrate on talking CPU only, because thats all they can figure out, for now. larrabbee is still MIA. openGL doesnt even work with SB, intel drivers are worse than ATI, but lets not tell that out in the open..

as for intel's vaunted 32nm, why is it still cold bugged?

how much is SB, then?
my point is, even w/ a lower price tag, it offers superior value to people who look at overall system performance. and not base their purchase on cooked up bentmarks.
