Number of cores doesn't mean anything. i7 2600 performed better than 8-core Bulldozer in a benchmark that use all cores/threads.

Since many applications/games don't use all cores, even i5 2500 should beat FX-8150 in many cases.

What did you expect? I love all the people who believed Bulldozer would take the performance crown. AMD is a great counter to intel in terms of everyday performance and price. It looks like 8150 can come close to the 2600k and that's all I wanted to see (that and it actually releasing).

Perhaps, but the fact remains that I can play both of those games just fine with my 555, although I have to decrease graphics settings on those due to my 4670 (THAT is a GPU bottleneck, a 580 or 6970 is not- BTW), so the load on my 2 banger is decreased some. With a decent GPU and a 955 I think I could run both of those at max settings.

P.S. Just ordered a 6790 last night ($89!), so I am pretty amped to try out some of these games I have been running at lower settings- this will probably bring my 555's limitations to light, and motivate me to get a 4100 in the near future. Then after the 4100, I am thinking I can pick up another 6790 as an open box or something after christmas for probably $50 or so and have perforance up near a (single) 6970 for less than $200.

nice to see AMD is putting up a good showing thus far. I'm not really tied to Intel nor AMD but i have always been a fan of the price/performance comparison. Will be interesting to see upcoming performance reviews.

well..... I dont even know what to think. I was hoping for something that would outperform a 2600k, wishful thinking.

Im waiting to upgrade my rig for better video rendering, but not too sure about waiting for BD anymore.

Kinda curious has to how the "hyperthreading" compares to the i7.

I'm not sure why some people expected it to beat the 2600K.

As far as gaming goes... I'd like to see what turbo on <8 cores looks like, since that's technically not overclocking. I have to say I'm disappointed though, bringing back the FX moniker only to be outdone.
