What's this all about Latency and which RAM?

Thread Starter
hi,

I'm considering to buy 8 GB of DDR3 Ram, but there is this issue with latency speed. All I know is, the lower the first number, the faster the operations.

Now, Corsair is apparently one of the best brands you can get out there.

But the CL is 9.

Then there is this other brand called Komputerbay, with CL8.

Now which one should I go for? Famous Brand or performance?

ps: Plz let me know if none of them are compatible with my mainboard.

thanks

Well 1333 cl9 is generic ram, despite the fact that they have heatsinks. In other words it won't be very overclocking friendly. I am not familiar with komputerbay either so no comment on that.

You will see a slight improvement in the CAS8 Ram, nothing major.

Well, which one would you recommend me

Komputerbay - no one's heard of
Corsair - well known brand (and was reduced from 73 gbp to 39, which is a big difference)

Since we're talking about 8 GB, would that small difference matter?

If you have had good luck with corsair (or any hardware manufacturers) go with that when in doubt.

....my vote corsair.

Go with Corsair for sure. You can probably find Corsair modules that are CL8, although they will be pricier than the generic stuff.
