But, with the amount of budget, I would agree going sandy bridge and probably i5/i7. 8GB ram is good for him, because I think he'll do some photo editting, not sure. Otherwise, isn't 4 GB ram good enough for gaming? And most definitely a 6000 series graphics card! Here's the link to that intel wishlist, i slammed together... http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=12672769
This looks nice, except i don't think he'll need a 850w PSU. A 650w would probably be better. Also, you're missing the Hyper 212+. I would also advise to get the 2500k from Microcenter, 40 dollars less. You could maybe bump the GPU up a bit.

* Mother board is discounted $80 when purchased with a Core i7 2600K cpu. See catalog for reference.

Note: I know that the PSU is overkill for this current setup, however, I chose it so that the OP could SLI a pair 560s later on down the road.

[edit]

Just donned on me I forgot the display. Derp.
Okay, add this display to my build and you're golden. It's a Hanns-G 21.5" display with 1920x1080 resolution. Brings your total bill to $988.72. Use coupon code EMCJKKC76 to drop the price on it to $99.

URL tag is borked for some reason. Here's the link to the display: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824262011
