You could get the 6830 instead and OC up to the clock of 6870 Since they are the same chip set, if you want to save a little. Though you should plan ahead what you want for graphics because you can only crossfire two of the same family GPUs i.e. 2x57xx or 2x69xx and I believe that the same goes for SLI as well. What do you plan to use for Cooler and PSU.
Cooler i generally use the stock fans ive never tried to overclock and i dunno whether i should, i dont feel im experienced enough wit comps lol. PSU im using my 850W from my first comp build.

Im hoping to keep it under 800 right now. and right now im looking at Z68 Mobo's i see what u mean by they are better and cheaper option
what i meant was that higher end gpus in sli/xfire can be bottlenecked by a lower end cpu(955 BE) and it is a better choice to go intel(at least rite now) to get everything out of your rig.

id suggest consider uping the gpu to a 6950 or a 570, if you look around you can get them pretty cheap, and they perform/overclock very well, probably be a better choice over a 6870

yea cpu is great wont be any problems with it. and the same for the 6870, but again, no one knows how those games are going to scale with our GPUs.

suggestion is to consider xfire the 6870(trumps most gpus, and alot of sli/xfire configurations) if it dosnt meet your standard.

and your psu is enough for a 2600k and sli 580s... just for reference, you wont need an upgrade on that.
