iPhone 4S or New Gen Android - Page 2

Yeah I agree... WP7 may not have as many apps when it comes to numbers but honestly... How many apps do you download and use on a day to day basis or even week basis? The numbers of apps on IOS and Android are higher but half of those apps are garbage /useless anyways unless your like 10 and like to use "Fart Bomb" or something.. WP7 all the apps most people use and plenty of more "fun" apps to sort through.

I've had both iphone and android, and it's really up to personal preference. iPhones seem pretty much like a phone with good applications. With Android, I feel like you can do a lot more and feels somewhat more like a PC in terms of navigating, organizing, etc.

With the current selection of phones out right now, I would get the GSII.

Exactly this. I hate when people bring up the whole app argument.

Apps I use on a daily basis.

CNN
Facebook
Gmail
Gas Buddy
Tapatalk
Pandora
Youtube

All of which I'm sure as available on all 3 mobile OS. I have a ton more apps on top of those, but nothing I constantly use on a day to day basis. I dont know anyone who actually uses the apps argument, and actually uses apps that another OS doesn't have.

Just to clarify: Apps to me mean productivity apps and games. I like to game on the commute, and iOS has the better games hands down. There's no arguing that. And what do you search for that you apparently think fart apps make up half the android and iOS store lol

As for WP7, I'd wait for the Nokia WP7 phones before jumping on that wagon.

A new phone should be a personal choice based on your preferences lets face it if you ask a question like this your gunna get many fan boy responses based on their personal experience; I'll admit my response will probably sound like an Apple fan boy but tbh its for reasons. I'm not saying that other phones are better or worse but I'll give my view on the situation based on my experience and what you have.

I originally had an iPhone 3G I loved it but I admit originally when the iOS4 went on it I grew to hate it because the OS was slow and simple not optimised to the 3G hardware. I don't know if this situation has improved So quite frankly I don't know why people still buy the older hardware when the its becoming obsolete. Then again they don't have the experience I have. Now I have an iPhone 4 and it's lovely again, because its powerful again and runs smoothly

So my advice would be to go to an iPhone 4S because:
  1. You have an iPhone 3G so going over to the 4S will be easy with iTunes, simply backup the 3G then get the 4S and restore from backup! Simple and easy =]
  2. The 4S has some impressive new features (admittedly these features are in iOS 5 not the physical phone but its all part of the package) like Siri, notifications (who's first to say "They're not the first to have notifications"), Dual core, imessage and many more
  3. The 4S finally has 64GB option; personally I was annoyed the iPhone 4 wasn't 64GB but was still an improvement over my 3G's 16GB.
  4. If the only problem you have with your 3G is literally the 3G's hardware (which I don't blame you about because iOS4 killed it to me as well) then even the iPhone 4's hardware should improve your experience and as they are lowering the price then maybe this is a better option for you? But if money isn't an issue then the iPhone 4S's dual core should improve your experience even more.

So that's what I think but like I said its still up to you

I too am waiting for next week when the Prime phone is unveiled. As much as I loved my Droid X here in the beginning, lately it's been non-responsive and hanging when I'm browsing in 3G or Wi-Fi. At least with Apple products you can be sure that their products will be supported for a few years down the road, at the cost of customizing it (software-wise).

What advantage does iCloud give over android alternatives?

Gmail - Contacts Calender Mail
Market - Apps
Google Docs - Documents
Music - Google Music

iMessage is pretty much the equivalent of BBM from my understanding, which is hardly used anymore over sms/mms.

Nothing wrong with the iPhone 4S. Its really all down to preference. If you want customization and having easy root access to your phone like you do on a PC. Then the iPhone lacks in that department.

Plenty more other reasons, but I need to head to class

This is coming from a Evo 3D and iPhone 4 owner.

No disagreement on there being better games, but the amount of better games is not that much more. I can also see that changing once Tegra 3 rolls out, and the fact that Android is definitely getting a bigger margin in the mobile market share.
