If gaming, go for the 6790. Otherwise, if folding and/or running workstation applications I would go for the GTS 450. Make sure you have a PCI-E x16 2.1 compatible motherboard if going for the HD6790.

Personally, I have an HD4770 and it just can't keep up compared to the NVIDIA equivalent.

id go for one of these

$110 AR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150564

$135 AR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161384
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150551

also, since this is a budget build id look on ebay. 6850/6870/6790s all go for very cheap used. can snatch em up for around $85-100. and if you can get two of them you can xfire them together for excellent price/performance.

Nice. I heard the XFX is composed of cheap parts? Also, I never heard of HIS, what are your thoughts on these concerns? I dont think i will risk money for used parts, just for extended life reasons.

I agree with you, but i was thinking of adding 30$ from my own money to my dads to get this. He wont pay more than 120. I can get the AMD Radeon HD 6850, so thats a good deal you think? Or would u prefer another card for 150$

thanks

6850 is a very good card, but if the total is $150 you can look at the 6870s as well. a little better a perform very well in xfire
