MSI 6950 need help with 3 monitors!

Hi, I am setting up a new build with 3 monitors using 1x2gb msi 6950, connected 2xDVIs and 1xHDMI to monitors but I can't make 3 monitors on together? Tried replace hdmi port using "mini port to hdmi" adapter but no luck.

The 6950 came with one "mini port to display port" but I don't have that cable to connect to my monitor, is display port required for triple display?

You cannot do 2xDVIs and 1xHDMI because you must use one miniDP output.

And as the ''mini DP to HDMI'' adapter does not work, then that adapter is likely to be a passive one. When such an adapter is used, an active one must be used. Furthermor, if the resolution is 2560x1600, an active dual link adapter must be used. However, if the resolution is 1920x1200/1080, then a single link active one can be used.

If you use the ''mini DP to DP'' adapter, then you can simply use a DP-to-DP cable, connecting to a monitor with DP input.

Here is the AMD validated list:

Perhaps the cheapest solution is with these connections:-
1x DVI as you currently have
1x HDMI as you currently have
1x mini DP to DVI-D (active single link) - get this adapter

Thanks windfire!
my monitors are 1920x1080, so is it ok if I use ''mini DP to DP'' adapter then "DP to DVI"? my monitors doesn't have DP input.

Yes, if you use the provided mini DP-to-DP adapter, then the DP-to-DVI adapter must be active (and single link to save money over dual link).

Use this one:-
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-005B-DisplayPort-Single-Link-Certified/dp/B004071ZX0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317943181&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Accell B087B-005B UltraAV DisplayPort to DVI-D Single-Link Active Adapter ATI Certified (Black): Electronics[/ame]

However, using two adapters together involves a small risk of not working. Since you will pay the money to buy one adapter, I suggest getting the mini-DP-to-DVI adapter (006B) that I mentioned above. With that, you only use one adapter, simplifying the connection.

It's a little late now but I would have gone with a FleX card to eliminate the issue of needing a MDP to DVI converter. With FleX cards you do not have to have one monitor connected to Display Port. If you decide to get xfire 6950s at any point I would recommend getting the Sapphire FleX 6950 (if you are going to be running any newer games at max graphics with 1080p in eyefinity....read bf3....it would be wise of you to grab a second 6950 regardless otherwise your fps is gonna be pretty pitiful). Just make sure you make the FleX card the master card (usually putting it in the top PCI-E slot will automatically make it master).
