$1600 Gaming Rig. What do i change or add?

Thread Starter
OK so I have been getting advice and looking at reviews all day and I think I have a final build. I have a $1600.00 budget and want to use every nickel. :-) Here is the build as it stands:
(all prices are Amazon currently. I may try to find some better deals around)

MoBo: ASUS Sabertooth P67 $199.99
CPU: i5-2500k $105.84
RAM: 8GB Kingtson T1 1600MHz $67.74
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212+ $26.71
Case: NZXT Phantom $124.99
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast 850W $119.99
Video Card: EVGA GTX-580 $489.99
OS Drive: Crucial M4 64GB SSD $106.99
Media/Game Drive: (2) WD Caviar Black (RAID 0) $139.98
DVD: Have SATA from previous machine
Grand Total of: $1355.51

So the question is, for $244.49 what would you change or add?

I'd go for a better CPU cooler, and a larger OS SSD, (100+GB) and also, you might want to grab a 3rd Caviar Black and put them in raid 5 so you have some protection against failure, but this is all imo.

Very sexy build, I really must say! Only thing... If you have $1600 why are you going for the 212+? Get the Thermalright Silver Arrow or Noctua NH-D14!

The RAID 5 suggestion is not a good one (you really should have a RAID card), if you want protection I would advise you to go for 4 HDD's in RAID 10 if you want RAID 0 performance with security. However a cheaper solution would be to have your WD Caviar Black RAID 0 and then add a Samsung F4 2TB, which is a slower and cheaper hard drive for backup. That way it is a cheap and effective backup solution which will protect against viruses also...

SOUND CARD!!! I almost forgot! Check this guide out!

Pick out the best headphones&sound card that fit your budget and usage and welcome the sound quality of stereo headphones!

Change your HDD to Samsung F3 1TB's. These are superior to Caviar Blacks.
Also, you can save couple of bucks on your memory. I think those are kinda overpriced. 1600 8gb rams usually go for 50~60ish.

For your extra money, spend it on a 128gb M4 or an additional 64gb m4 for raid0 setup.
If you have more room on your budget after that then get a sound card.

And I'm just wondering where you can get i5-2500k for like $100?

the samsung spinpoint f3's are no longer superior to wd blacks, the new revision of blacks are faster, albeit more expensive than the f3's.

As for the 64GB M4 RAID 0... You would see no difference in performance tbh and you would also lose TRIM support. SSD RAID 0's are not worth it in my book...
