Help me find a USED (starter) DSLR

Thread Starter
Lately I am finding myself wishing a I had a half decent camera, not to mention this is something I have been wanting to get into for a while now. The past 2 weeks or so I have been thinking it over and I think it is time for me to get a DSLR and get started.

I am looking to buy used, as my price limit is a tad low. I am looking at ~$500 at the most, but much rather spend less. However, I will cough up the money if the camera warrants it.

Being new to the photography world, I find myself a bit ignorant on where to go for some deals. So it'd be great if you guys could help me finding a good starter at a good price. I'd prefer links to products rather than websites as I am just starting and sorting through multiple sales will most likely overwhelm me.

It'd be awesome if I could buy here, I trust people from here a lot more than other random websites. But, I know this isn't a photography forum- there is only 3 adds here I saw in my price range, what do you think of them?

If you don't think the price is right or the camera for that matter, feel free to share some outside links. Whew, sorry about the long-winded post but I'm not the type to throw a few hundred around on a whim. Any help will of course be rewarded and very much appreciated.

New is an option, I just rather go used to save some cash. Figured I shouldn't go overboard for a starter. But still, thanks for the suggestion- I'll look into it.

Thanks for the help all!

I've been doing a bit of reading since you guys posted that. How is the Rebel XS? I'm leaning towards that currently @$320 it seems like a solid deal, whether I go through the rebate or preferably what zacbrain posted.

I'm also following a Rebel XT on ebay- currently at $180 with 40 min left, the price sure is tempting assuming it doesn't go up much more.

Avoid Ebay, period. Just avoid it.

And what zacbrain posted is a hell of a deal. I'd pick that XS up. It's worth calling in if it comes to that. Gives you money to spend on SD cards and spare batteries, with some cash left over if you ever decide on getting more glass (which I'd hold off on buying until you get some experience with your camera).

i am going to have to go against the status quo and say dont bother with the xs, instead get a t2i off CLP. sure its a bit more expensive, but with a t2i you will get a modern sensor and video, which may or may not be something you want to use later.
