Wanting to OC, not sure if mobo will let me...

Hey guys.

I've go the itch to do some overclocking for the very first time, but I don't think my motherboard supports it (super sad face). But, let's see if I can be told otherwise!

I have an Intel board, model number ECG3510M. According to DirectX the BIOS I'm runing is the "Default System BIOS". Would getting an updated BIOS help at all...? Oh yeah, my memory is running at 800mhz also.

I'm using a stock cooler (for now, might get a 212+ if it's possible to overclock) and have a E7400 dual core processor.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

1) Go into BIOS
2) See if it lets you adjust your CPU multiplier or BCLK. If you can, you can overclock. If you can't you can't. Simple.

Now, if it does let you adjust that, there's also the question of "is it a good idea to overclock..." - you have to consider the VRMs and power delivery systems on the motherboard, the features of the motherboard, your cooling (stock coolers won't get you a very significant overclock, but the 212 is a great bang-for-buck cooler!). You also have to consider your power supply: can it handle the extra watts from boosting the voltage up, and can it deliver clean power?

From what I can see, likely your board won't be able to overclock at all, or you will be very limited in your abilities to do so.

Yeah, I already did that, so I'm guessing I can't, oh well! Graphics overclocking only then.

If I was to try and get ahold of a 775 socket board for overclocking, anything you could suggest? Any specs I should look out for...?

My current mashup build (my p8p67 died) is running a q9650 on a ep45 ud3p. This board took my cpu to the 4ghz~ or there abouts back when i overclocked it.

There is a used one on ebay for $100~ atm:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GIGABYTE-...#ht_500wt_1045

and a used ep45 ds3l:

All and all if you can find one cheap grab it.

You really wont regret going with a GA-EP45-UD3L-R-P those were pretty much the best lga775 boards.

My q9550 went to 4.25 fully prime stable for 12hrs and 4.59 suicide on air on a UD3P.
