5970 Issues - Page 2

I installed the new power supply but I am having the same issues. Games and benchmarks (except furmark) freeze and do an endless audio loop, and other times I just get a BSOD.

If you are sure the RAMs are not faulty and you did not forget to install CAP, then next logical is to increase the core voltage for the two cores. Increase by 10mV then try again. If fails, increase another 10mV. Download MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 8 to tweak voltage or Sapphire Trixx. Only install one of them NOT BOTH.

I did have both installed but never had them running since it would crash at completely stock. Just uninstalled afterburner. I got the same results with both ram sticks singled out. I reinstalled my 6950 (for the third time) last night to test further. It ran completely stable through everything I threw at it. I'll try the voltage tweaking now.

What's the best way to test for faulty ram? I ran them both individually with the 5970 and nothing changed. Then I ran them individually with the 6950 and it was stable.

What are the steps swaping 6950 to 5970? How did you do it? History of 5970? Driver and CAP versions. So we won't be stabing in the dark here.

Memtest86+ 3 passes is good enough. Also, during troubleshooting, restore all to default, nothing overclocked.

Uninstall drivers via driver installer. Reboot into safe mode and run driver sweeper. Shut down, swap cards out. Boot and reinstall drivers.

Right now the 5970 has 11.9 + the 11.9 CAP. I've tried 11.8, 11.9 and 11.10 preview.

I'll restore everything to default now. (again lol)

Crap, I don't have any blank cd's or dvd's on me.
