RAM to pair with MA599X Evo/PII X4 965 BE?

Hi everyone,

I am very confused as to what RAM I should use with this board (Asus MA599x Evo). I am buying both this mobo and the CPU (Phenom II X4 965 BE).

This is my first build, so I am totally oblivious to the latency of the RAM that is compatible with this Mobo.
I was considering this RAM (G.Skill RipJaws 4GB- 2X2GB DDR3 (PC3 10666)- CL7)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231276

and this RAM (Kingston HyperX 8GB- 2X4GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) - CL9)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104173

The G.Skills are CL7 @ 1.5 volts and the Kingston HyperX are CL9 @ 1.65 V.

Which RAM would work better with this motherboard? Is lower CL/Voltage better? I'd rather use the Kingston because it is 8GB but not sure if it would be compatible with the m5a99x evo?

Thanks very much for any advice as I am planning to buy all the components very soon.

Respectfully,
Phgboy

The Kingston is miles better and will work perfectly with the M5A99X EVO.

1600MHz C9 > 1333MHz C7.

Awesome, I'll try the Kingston. Not sure why people recommend the lower CL, but I am not an expert in RAM.
Just to clarify there is not much difference in 1.5V vs. 1.65 V or is this something that could be tweaked in m5a99x bios?

Really 1600 C9 vs 1333 C7 are going to be about the same for the AMD platform, and honestly aside from benchmarks it wont matter - you'll not notice any difference in real world performance between the 2 kits.

On AMD you don't have the voltage concerns (1.5 vs 1.65) like the Intel chips do, so either kit will work for you. Between the 2 linked kits I would choose the Kingstons for the sole fact that they are 8gb vs 4gb - and if you want to go for the gusto, get these mushkings (although at an obvious price premium) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226179
