Ok so i have a 29" CRT TV. I was thinking of connecting my Radeon 5750 to it via a VGA to composite connector. At what max resolution will it run at? will it be Ok to game on it? Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

It's a Samsung Plano 29" CRT. I'll be using a DVI to composite converter. 'Coz i'm using a 15" Monitor for gaming right now. So will i have a better time gaming on the TV? Also can i connect the card directly to the TV using the cable, without the darned signal converter box?

As said, it depends on the resolution of the display. Being an analog connection, I don't think it has a hard resolution limit (I'm sure there's a practical one), but it's worth mentioning that the quality is not up to par, so you probably won't even get the most out of the display, and the other monitor might even end up looking better.

Don't judge all CRTs based on one. Had I done that, all LCDs would be out of the question to me.

A good CRT can match or exceed an LCD in many areas as far as image quality goes, including response (no ghosting, no input delay/lag, high refresh rates), contrast, color fidelity (true Blacks), viewing angles, and resolution flexibility.

Where they falter is their size and weight. Power consumption and heat are generally up there too (though LCDs aren't as much of saints either). They also have their quirks with geometry, sharpness consistency/uniformity, convergence, etc., but so does LCD with backlight bleed, White glow, stuck/dead pixels, color shifting, color uniformity, etc., so don't pass all CRTs off as worse all around. It really depends on a lot of factors.

Rep +. One more question, I used to the same TV to connect to my XBOX 360 using the bundled composite cables. So what i'm wondering is that did the XBOX games run at a resolution of 800*600 as well? 'Coz the quality seemed sharp to me.

if you are having to connect as composite I think you are going to be running at 640x480

if it was newer and had component inputs you might be looking at 800x600

if it one of those HD crt's tv's they made for a while then you could get 1280x720
