I highly doubt Apple spends much on advertising. They get millions of dollars worth of free advertising from just word of mouth alone. "NEW IPHONE NEW IPHONE NEW IPHONE" ad nauseum.

To be real, i'd say the fat check Sprint just wrote Apple would cover all of the R&D/design/programming for the iPhone 4S. $20 billion is nothing to sneeze at.

I would not say that it has an image sensor on par with the other vendors in the market. 8MP backlit CMOS 2.4f is the along high end camera lines http://www.ovt.com/products/category.php?id=12

I wouldn't doubt that at all. In fact, I bet $20B far exceeds those costs.
