Balanced Intel Build - Page 3

if you are very interested in folding, higher RAM clock speeds (IE 1600 vs 2133) were factors to consider.
i7-2600k + Fermi GPU (GTX 400 \\ GTX 500) + OC'd RAM

I have been looking for a source where Zodac was talking about RAM timings, but I could not find it.

If You live near a Micro center, they have the I7-960 FOR $199.00 + I7-2600K $275.00 + they had the I5-2500k on sale the other day for $150.00 normall $175.00 If you get the I7-960 the classified 3 is amazing motherboard , overclocks like a breeze.

Imo the I7-950 is a great chip, but dont pay $299.00 when you can a better chip cheaper.( 960-2500k)

Okay,
So this is what I'm thinking now,
2600k
ASUS 570 SLI
CORSAIR H100
SSD still undecided. Considering the Crucial M4 or the Intel 510
Motherboard undecided. I am a fan of asus but I do want a black and red cosmetic theme for this rig. Not a fan of Asrock, or MSI.
Memory undecided. Wanting a low cas latency and 12gb min in triple channel.

Sandy bridge only does dual channel, so you're looking at 8GB. Unless you wanna overkill it with 16.

You don't need 16x/16x because there's little difference compared to 8x/8x. There are no 16x/16x 1155 mobos btw.
It's a computer.

Gigabyte UD7 supports 2x 16. But I'm pretty sure the CPU will still bottleneck it down to 8 x 8.

The difference between dual 16s and dual 8s only really effects you when you are running 3 or more monitors, so if you're running one there will be virtually no difference.

Here's what I can find with a quick search:
