There are DA 3G v2 out, which doesn't have omron switches, but instead some cheaper ones.

Hey, that's definitely something I noticed too. Thanks for reminding me Thunda, I'll be adding this info to the deathadder megathread soon.

However the black edition feels amazing and personally I wouldn't be surprised if you compromised functionality, in the form of a higher lift off distance for its superior mousefeel.

Honestly though, if you don't mind cleaning your mouse (or if you don't mind a grimy mouse) I'd go for the 1800 dpi deathadder. Or if you're lucky enough build a 3G V3 Black Edition deathadder .

Also, many people report that the Guild Wars deathadder has a higher liftoff distance than the 1800 DPI 3G. Most of these posts came from <2008 so I believe the guild wars edition is a 3G V3.
dude you're awesoem!^^
you take the words right out of my mouth!
ye i'd want the BE because you reported that it has superb build quality and all shiznit, the only problem is high LOD (3 CD still trakcs rofl), which fortunately is not an issue for me =)

oh if the GW edition has higher lift-off distance, then it's prolly 3G V3 <.<
then i think the case is clear for me:
Razer DeathAdder: Black Edition FTW

only question is now, goliathus control or speed? =/

mostly due to lower lift-off distance i guess, the sensor also performs faster at 450 dpi (i think they measured 521 or so?) than the newer 3.5G sensor.
but to my understanding, neither of them ar bad in anyway, for me, the build quality was more important and here the DA:BE shines

can anybody answer my question concerning control or speed?
i'm a low-mid senser, using 900 cpi on my xai right now

In relation to this: http://phoon.us/mouse/ it has about 485dpi.

For the lift off distance for the black ed all you have too do is put some scotch tape on the bottom of the sensor and it makes it pretty low

doesn't this decrease the functionality of the sensor though?
It does decrease perfect control/malfunction speed in most cases but in DA it's still high enough after tape fix.

Can't you get a CM sentinel for like $10 more then the DA:BE??

I'd assume that even at lower DPI's the sentinel would perform better honestly, and possibly have better customer support.
