Router doesn't let me connect to it on a seemingly random basis

I have a router (Belkin N750 DB Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router) and I'm having problems with it. If I restart my computer or disconnect from it, it wont let me connect back to it for some weird reason.

Example:

Be up late at night playing games online, shut off the computer and go to sleep. Wake up later, turn on the computer, it detects the router but it just wont let me join it. Says it's unable to connect even though it detects it. Only way I can make it connect is to restart the router which isn't an easy solution half the time since the router is in my brothers room and he locks his door when he's at work. So I have to resort to shutting down the power via circuit breaker to my brothers room. Kinda overkill, but it manages me to have the router restarted and be able to connect. I've told my brother to enable "self healing" but that doesn't fix it. He's set it up to do it everyday @ 2am and when it does it, it kicks me off the router and the allows me to reconnect.

tl;dr

Router doesn't let me connect to it on a seemingly random basis.

Do you get the same behavior by using a static LAN IP?

Yes I did, my brother first suggested this to be the problem but it still continued to happen.
