You will not be bottlenecked on any 980x/990x @ 4.4 GHz, and the Higher uncore overclock of around 3000 MHz.

I anticipate there may still be a bottleneck from 2600K due to its PCI-E pipelines. I never tried it.

There are a few titles that bring 2x 590s to its knees regardless. It is impossible to consistently stay above 60 FPS in every title ever released. However the only two off the top of my head is Metro2033 and Crysis 1.

This is also default "Ultra" settings. There are plenty of mods for the games that greatly increase performance requirements, you can even manipulate settings within the drivers to force extra quality and the FPS will tank when pushing some of the more extreme options. Crysis 1 tanks with all the quality mods + tod mods.

As it stands though, I have seen plenty of unbottlenecked 2600K setup whether in benchmarks or actual game performance. The 970/980/980x/990x is the way to go on this one. Or hold off for Socket 2011, the performance difference to Sandy Bridge will just be one bottleneck for another.

Not having a native 32x PCI-Express lanes can cripple dual GPU cards.

Feel free to visit my 590 vs 6990 thread link in my signature for anticipated performance and corresponding clocks with a 980x.

actually i was pointing out that he was probably told by his mates what to buy...

it isn't he's fault that he spent alot more then he needed to for the same performance...

most newcomers as i was back in the day don't understand everything and just go off what there mates tell them...

remember before i said that people were saying troll...

which i don't think was the case...

You'll probably experience a bottleneck, but you'll get too much frames anyways.

By the way, it's not quad-fire, it's quad SLI

I just want to unscrew the cpu block and slap a new cpu in there.. I dont want to have to go through skinning my fingers with fittings and sweating my balls off all over again for 3 days to overhaul. I want to upgrade the cpu and leave my pc alone for 2 years...

I know how you feel, although it took me 8 hours solid to take apart my old rig and fit new mobo and cpu, but it was so worth trashing my room and several towels for!

If i was you, i'd sell one 590, buy a P67 Mobo and i7-2600k (keep your ram) and you'll have a BEAST of a system - you'll still have money spare after buying the mobo and cpu, put that money into a cloud computing stock for 3 month and with that you can buy the 2011 socket when it comes out.
