Yep. Good way to lose your government/contractor job is to try to bring something from the outside into a place where it's forbidden.

You lose your income, and might even end up with a criminal record.

Keep sensitive data off computers that are connected to the internet and also train users and put forth security policies so this doesn't happen.

Someone had to put this malware on their network internally. I highly doubt that this came from some outside source as their security policies should be too strict to allow that to happen.
This.

Our military has two networks. One that connects to the internet, and one that is isolated (Secret Clearance) from the internet. Legally, I cant say much more other than Drones (UAVs) operate off of the isolated network, and the only way to load a virus onto it is to bring it from the outside in.

Its WAY easier than you think to pop a thumb drive onto the red net.

It really scares me that they run windows on these kinds of systems.

I remember when they put NT on an aircraft carrier and it BSOD'd and stranded the carrier at sea for like three days. I'm sure there are plenty of other things that have happened as well.

Doesn't it make more sense to use some type of real time system like Linux/UNIX in a read only mode? Are these people playing farmville between sorties or what? F'n ridiculous.

And while I'm at it, it'd be nice if kids learned how computers work instead of learning windows and mac apps only. What's next, get the latest SAMS launcher software, only from the App Store! (trademark, patent pending, etc. )
