I really don't know much about phones and now with me having used my android for a few months I feel like I know even less than I did before. I was wanting to know if there is a way to update the android firmware ? My was was labelled on the box and in stores as android 2.2 and yet when I am looking through the phone it is telling me its 2.1 update 1

What phone do you have?

Have you tried going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Firmware Update?

Select GT540 from the "Model Name" menu and trying downloading the software update. If that doesn't work, my only other suggestion would be to root the phone and install a custom ROM.

If you want to root your phone, read through the stickies here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=776

Huh?

You're just unlocking the phone, it's like jailbreaking an iPhone/iPod.

I think the phone is dead because it cant connect to the pc, I put on the drivers and followed all the instructions from LG's site and nothing worked, I cant even view the files on the phone from the PC
