I'm looking at some "reveiws" and apparently 5850's at high settings doesn't do well.

I have 1 running right now, and my settings are as maxed as they can get (with 1920x1080p) and I run 60fps steady (with vsync).

So do I have some magical graphics card?

I think anymore these days people are over dramatic on graphic cards.. I.E gotta have the latest greatest to run these games lol

its true. you can buy a 580 and get great performance. but at half the price two used 6850s or 5870s in xfire stomp all over them(and scale upwards of 90%)

I can max it out around 40-50 FPS at 1600x1200. Interesting..

On metro on auto settings which is high on all but one i average about 55fps and the game is smooths as butter. I never dip below about 40 and hit about 75 max.

this is something else i dont understand, 30-40fps by most review sites is the "playable" side of things... if its not going to run as fluid as a console then whats the point? am i right? i think the standard should be changed, video cards should more represent price/performance instead of an additional $100 for 5-10 fps extra

gonna find 2 5870s for half the price of a 580

5870s in the UK can be had for ~Â£150 or thereabouts. And a GTX 580 costs ~Â£350.

Whats more, a single 5870 is almost as fast as a single 6970 in BF3 (techspot review). Pretty neat.

Yup, everyone overlooks the previous generation of hardware.

You can get graded 1gb 5870s off videocardshop for Â£113 with ocn discount...bargain for raw gpu grunt.

Playing around with quite a few of the settings are the frames never really changed that much. Not enough to notice. I'm going to see what it's like once the game is out and see if it's any more optimized.

So about BF3 frame rates
