That's not how their warranty reads.

PNY Technologies, Inc. ("PNY") warrants the product, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product as sold to the original purchaser ("purchaser"), subject to all the terms and conditions hereunder. This warranty is for replacement for like items only. Lifetime replacement warranty does not cover items out of production if the company no longer stocks them. (Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the product on the market. Outdated technology is not covered by lifetime warranty if the item is no longer available on the common market as a new product.)This warranty is not assignable.

i suppose you are correct. stange anomoly. the example i used above happened to my buddy. not sure if it was a 260(more likely a 4**) but it was replaced by a 580. hence me going for the 580s(lucky for me pny was out of stock and i got evga).

edit: also interesting to see that newegg dosnt have that on their site, and its not the easiest link to find in PNY's support section.

Yeah. It's the fine print that gets you. Again, very deceptive marketing on their part. I'd steer clear of them.

this. asus is my favourite. both asus and msi make the best aftermarket cooling solutions so you can't go wrong with either one, but the MSI's are more expensive and anyway I like the Asus look more.

the problem here is "common market" and how they interpret it..
I'm guessing they'll interpret it to favor them tho

Also worth remembering is that they only give the 'lifetime' warranty if you register the product within 30 days of purchase. not a lot of head-room.
and on top of that - their coolers are not aftermarket, which makes it run quite hot/loud. my old evga 570 got pretty hot/loud when gaming

No it doesn't. In August of 09 they reworked it for the "XLR8" line of cards. The standard one year warranty is extended to lifetime of the buyer upon registration at their website (just like EVGA). Its not lifetime of the product (which is indeed what they did prior to this).
