You mean like those captcha things where if you get it wrong by accident (which is very easy to do) then you have to wait 5 minutes before you can try again.

Too bad it doesn't really work that way, taking any one of the root servers offline wouldn't affect the internet, because of the way things are wired traffic would simply be diverted to other servers; and because of the increase of root servers and domain servers, it would hardly slow things down. A handful of countries and several million people would have higher latency - big deal.

Also, wasn't the original conficker network disabled or unsuccessful somehow? I know there are new variants of conficker around, but none of them anywhere near the size of the original.

Hardly, it's not killing them for some stupid belief in certain facial features are better than others, it'd enforce a little common sense when using the internet...Which is sorely needed, as virus' in general tend to prove. (Some are ones that anyone could get, most are ones you'd have to really fail at computers to get)

Like a license to be able to use the internet, no different than like with a car.

Sadly, then we'll just have licensed idiots on the internet like we do on the roads because everyone believes they have a right to it so "enforcement" isn't really there. I understand what you're getting at but it really wouldn't change anything.

Hm... Let me think.

NO.

It may take down SOME of the servers, causing massive slowdowns in large areas, but you CANT "take down" the internet. There's no centralized system to take down. Lets say you want to get from Point A to Point B with your DDOS attack. If you flood too much across that one path, yes it will go down. However, across the world, the connection between point Q and R will still work fine. In addition, the botnet is spread over the whole world, meaning that it probably wont be able to take down any access points OTHER than the one connecting the target to the rest of the network.

any kind of discrimination whether it makes common sense to you or not is still discrimination, the irony being that you are too ignorant to tolerate ignorance

I thought they already threatened to send out the "Conficker" virus over a year ago and they lied.

Kinda sorta not really repost.
