Low Prime95 Test Temps

Thread Starter
Hi guys, so I've got an i5-2500K cpu that I overclocked to 4.2GHz 1.245v and I'm running the standard blend in Prime95. It's been going for 6 hours now with no problems, but my max temperatures seem kind of low 47-54C. This seems like a good thing, and I know 4.2GHz is kind of on the lower side for overclocking but do these temps seem right? Or is there something that could cause the readings to be wrong. I'm getting the same readings from both Real Temp and Core Temp.

Also this is my first post here and I wanted to say thanks for all the great posts and information here on this site, it seems like a really great community

From what I have read, I know that that cooler is pretty beast. I wouldn't be surprised if those temps were correct.

Here is a link to G3D's H100 review, the Zalman is the lowest temperature on there.

Oh awesome, I wasn't aware of how good it was since my brother actually gave it to me. Thanks for that link, and maybe now knowing this I'll try to go higher on my overclock

Try using this instead of Prime95. After you get it stable in IntelBurnTest (50 or so passes), run prime95 blend for half a day or so to make sure it's stable in there too (it should be, but there are some rare cases where certain situations can cause instability).

Set it to 4 cores and max RAM.. your CPU will get much hotter in this program. Verify it's using 100% CPU in the task manager. Definitely make sure your using the latest version of Prime95 too.
