Best US carrier for Iphone?

Thread Starter
My mom and step dad want iphones. I do not think it will be the new one. So iphone 4 maybe even 3gs. Just curious what is considered the best carrier all things considered.
I am an androind guy on verizon but they seem to be a little pricey.

They will not need a large data plan, probably the smallest one actually.

If you have a Fry's around, they have the iPhone 4 16GB for $99 and the 32GB for $149. I am on Verizon so my vote automatically goes for them. Sprint is getting the iPhone 4 and S though so look out for that. The only drawback is that the new iPhone 4 will be 8GB and will $99.

Everyone whines about AT&T but it works great for me. If you are in the midwest though i noticed on my trip there i had almost no service half the time, while people in verizon did.

For me, on the east coast, and when i went to California it worked fine..

I'd go by which company has best coverage in your area (or if they travel).

Here in Charleston, Verizon rules the air. Sprint doesn't have 4G at all, AT&T is terrible.

Sprint does have the iPhone 4 for $99. If they don't need a lot of storage space.

The only downside to the iPhone 4 on Verizon is that it is a CDMA phone so it isn't international. AT&T is if you get coverage...

Sorry we're in southern Cal so I don't think coverage will be an issue. I guess they are leaning towards at&t. repped thanks guys.

I have ATT in Nor Cal and never really have issues. Random drops rarely happen anywhere in Cal unless I am in seriously remote areas.

Well, for a 3GS you're on ATT, since it won't work on CDMA [Sprint / Verizon] networks, keep that in mind, on an iPhone4 though, it works on Verizon and ATT, 4S works with Verizon, ATT and Sprint. Just keep that in the back of your head.

As for me choice, I *personally* am a huge fan of ATT down here in South FL. Sprint has horrible coverage and Verizon is average at best. ATT has coverage everywhere down here. Factoring in that the 4S [my new phone :3] is HSPA+ capable, which is ATT's 3.5G network, it's still a plus imo, but people rant on it for not being true 4G... whatever.

Since you're in South Cali and coverage shouldn't be an issue.. just check the plans, see what gives you the best bang for buck. Also, hit the stores, the nearest Verizon, Sprint and ATT store... check out the personnel, when talking with them see who seems genuinely more helpful. When the shizz hits the fan, you want people that will actually help you, not someone who just reads points off his / her screen and is completely clueless.

In my travels, I've found that AT&T sucks for very populated cities... Denver, New York, etc...

I'd suggest Verizon.

Just choose the carrier that they will have the best coverage with. Your best bet is probably Verizon though, I have a buddy in the LA area and was told everything but Verizon is rather sketchy in terms of good coverage.
