MSI Hawk GTX 460 or Sapphire 6850?

EDIT: Now down to either 6850 or GTX 460

I am stuck right now with my build, not sure which GTX 460 I should get. There is the EVGA Superclocked 460 at Fry's for $160 and a $30 rebate. Then there is the Asus Direct CUII 460 at Newegg for $165 and a $30 rebate. Note that the EVGA has much higher clocks.

Are those the only two cards you'd consider? The MSI Hawk is $125AR at NCIXUS: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=554...r&promoid=1297

It's factory OC'ed to 780MHz, though I wouldn't take the stock clocks into consideration unless you refuse to overclock. Plus, the Hawk's Twin Frozr II cooler is widely considered one of the best heatsinks you'll see factory-installed on a 460 in terms of temperatures and noise.

I had one myself, and that thing is QUIET (when fans are under 55% or so. I used a 1% fan speed per 1 degree C ratio and never went above 60C in the summer. Lovely card

(not trying to make a sale or anything, just putting another option on the table! haha)

I see the 6870 is only $140 after rebate. Pretty nice.
Here are some quick-and-dirty benchmarks between a stock 460 and stock 6870: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/313?vs=290

An OC'ed 460 should beat a stock 6870. I have no idea how well 6870s OC though.

GTX 460 is a great card, but it is getting late in the game to be paying out that much, especially if you can get an HD 6870.

Too bad GTX 460 can rarely get passed 900 core, although that is already a good overclock considering 675 stock.

Which card would be the best for 1080p gaming? I hope to get the most out of the card, planning on playing Skyrim on better than Xbox graphics as well as GTA 4. Older games aren't a worry.

Also Deus Ex, DiRT 3, and Crysis 2.

I'd say it's down to the 460 and the 6870. The 460 has a great and (relatively) quiet cooler, but the 6870 has the raw performance advantage. That said, they'll both get the job done at 1080p, and you really can't go wrong with either of them.

EDIT: oops, just saw your update to the OP. I'd go for the 460 over the 6850.

That 6870 is tempting me. That might be my next card.
