Build Log: AquaCube (Updated 12/22) - Page 12

n0n44m- thanks for the info..I'm using the Bitspower fittings designed for the eheim 1046...hopefully, those will work well (wanted black instead of Aquacomputers silver.)

as far as the filter, I really appreciate the tip on mounting it horizontally. Like you, I was going to reverse the flow, but it was mainly due to the way I plan on running my tubing. I'll take a look and see if I can get a proper mount in a horizontal position.

skiing...normally get about 7-10 days, but I think this is going to be an epic snow year!

+1 to you sir!

Cesar...I'll be running some mayhems dye, and I want to make sure the water is properly filtered...It's basically just a little mesh screen that the water passes through, but it also has 2 shut-off valves that will also make loop maintenance uber easy.

OK if they're dedicated Bitspowers designed for the 1046 they should work I guess, as Shoggy posted in the Martinsliquidlab Aquastream review thread that it uses a 1046 housing. Most issues I read about were some generic silver looking adapters, mainly sold by aqua-tuning Europe if I remember correctly. Your Bitspower ones sure look nice smile.gif

as for the filter, I'd try it out for a day or so if you can setup a simple testing loop. I think the noise is simply due to not being fully bled, and the noise issue with having it mounted vertical is probably that it bleeds very very slow or maybe never even fully in that orientation.

I can only assume that once all the air is out, it is completely silent, no matter what orientation it has. smile.gif

also, if you want to make full use of the filter you need to close the valves, unscrew the window and take out the mesh for cleaning when it no longer looks clean. To do this it must obviously be in a horizontal position unless you want all the water falling out tongue.gif

From what I saw, most of the problem was with the housing cracking due to being tightened too much...I think the BP fittings will be okay..if not, I have a spare set of the AC fittings for backup...

From what I have read, Mayhem's dye does not separate like the others. It does stain anything else floating around in your loop though. So is it like a reservoir with a piece of mesh? Any restriction impact?

A little restriction impact, but not enough to affect cooling or the loop...Worst case, I just throw another pump in, but I think it should be ok. I'm still a little on the fence about it...but I definitely like the little extra "bling" factor to it.

yah... i just found out a couple days ago that the dye i used in a build was mayhams... it was about 5 months ago or so... just finished the cleaning last weekend, and i didnt see ant stain in the blocks or anything... the only thing it did was dye his filter red tongue.gif... the was gone after i cleaned it out though smile.gif... mayhems does make ever floating particle blatantly obvious though (i cinda like that though)... its great from what i have seen

one of my friends actualy tested it cause he is a cooling freak... it was around the same restriction a the new koolance quick disconnects or so... so the restriction isnt a problem at all... they are great little filters and they look prity cool IMO.... jc, (i missed it somewhere but) what pump(s) u using?

Happy to hear about the Mayhems being decent.

I'm using the Aquastream XT ultra...I have 2 of them, but am going to try it with one first. Almost the entire loop is Aquacomputer except the blocks. Going with HK for those although I might change the mobo to Mips (cause it looks really good and has 2 fewer fittings required)

Just a quick update on parts...The waterblocks and rads were supposed to ship tomorrow, but looks like it won't be until the 11th..throws me out another week, but hopefully it will be worth it!

I switched over to the MIPS mobo blocks, they will fit in really well for the build. I also ordered a MIPS RAM cooler, but I'm not sure if I'm going to use it or not...have to wait and see!
